POP IT SUGGESTED BOARD GAMES WITH DICE OR FLASHCARDS
Pop it fidget toys are very popular to children nowadays but they became quite popular to piano teachers and piano students as well.
The advantages of these toys are explained in my post Pop Its For Piano Lessons
For the following games with variation I recommend you have a pop it board game.
How we play the basic game:
Players: 2 (student and teacher or two students)
- There are three rounds.
- Both players use their right hand on the first round. they continue with the left hand on the second round and back to the right on the third one.
- The first player rolls the dice.
- He then presses down the equivalent number of poppers using curved fingers (he can push them down in twos, threes or fours).
- The second player does the same and they keep playing until they push a row of ten poppers.
- The winner of each round is the one who gets a row of ten poppers pushed down first.
- When this is done, the winner of the round pushes down one popper of the three that are in the right side of the platform center.
- The game will end when one player wins three rounds.
Variation 1:
- The players roll the dice and push the equivalent number of poppers down one by one using different fingers.
Variation 2:
- For this variation it’s better to use two different color dice. One die will show how many poppers need to be pushed down and the other die will show with which finger the player must use. In the case of number 1 and 6 the player chooses which finger he wants to use.
Variation 3 with flashcards:
To play this variation of the game you need to have the Music Teaching Inspirations Pop It Game Flashcards.
You can get download them FOR FREE here:
- For this variation players use flash cards with numbers instead of the dice.
- Each player draws a flash card and pushes down the poppers using the hand indicated and the fingers that are on the flash card.
- Download the pdf with the flash cards and cut them so you can play the game with your students.
